If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll know that I’ve been spending my days at my new job. It’s been an interesting few weeks, but I’ve got the hang of it now.
Today, I thought I’d share some fun things I’ve been using as well as a couple of cute outfit choices for the more conservative office. These are things that I feel are total office essentials and tools for success with a personal touch.

About the Conservative Office
I was able to secure a position as a New Patient Coordinator in a thriving Periodontics and Implants office last month. If you’re interested in finding out how to nab a new job without any experience, check out my post here.
Being out of traditional work for almost a year, I didn’t have anything in my wardrobe to suit my new position. Of course, I did a bit of shopping, and it was pretty fun, mostly because I found clothes that fit. I was so excited!
At work, I have a business casual dress code. I envy the girls who wear scrubs to work every day, though. For some reason, I’ve always wanted to wear scrubs to work. One day, it will happen.
Black and Gray is My Anthem
There’s something about the non-colors black and gray. When it comes to clothing, I prefer the non-colors black, white, gray, and I leave the actual colors for accents and accessories. Looking for clothing that fits is always a challenge, so when I saw that Banana Republic was having a sale, I browsed their petites section for some pants.
After trying on the Sloan-Fit Solid Pant, I fell in love. I wouldn’t need a tailor to hem them, because they fit like they were made for me. Perfection. The 40% off didn’t hurt either. I grabbed a pair in gray, and when the blacks come back in stock, I shall grab a pair of those too. If you’re short like me (4’10”), go to the store and try them on. Let me know what you think. If you want an extra 4% cash back on top of the 40%, use Ebates*. Use my link, and I shall be grateful for all eternity. Here’s how I like to style my pants, with slight variations depending on my mood.
Dressing Up, Because I Wanna
Sometimes, I want to dress it up while still keeping it business casual. I’ll throw a dress over tights and layer with a sweater (because I am always freezing) and top it off with a pair of comfy boots. I’m ready to take over the world.
Office Essentials and Tools for Success
If you’re a pen addict like me, you know what I mean when I say I can’t live without my pens. They are such a huge part of me. I’ve taken the time to try out so many styles and found the perfect pens for aiding me in my journey to success.
I’ve also brought a few things that make my workspace feel more like my own personal space, so I can think more clearly and focus on the tasks at hand. I’m all about adding that personal touch without getting too personal. I keep my home and work separate, but this way, I can meld some of my personality into my space.
So what do you think of my work outfits? Not too shabby for someone who wore nothing but t-shirts and jeans for a year. How do you like to personalize your work space? Share with me!
