New Year, New Adventure – Reaching Your Goals This Year

We say it every year – new year, new me. Well, it’s a new year, but I’m the same, different every day.

Welcome to my new year adventure.

I’m trying out Squarespace, you guys! I’ve been on Blogger and WordPress, but I’m really attracted to the simplicity of Squarespace. I love simple, and I’ve been embracing simple every chance that I get. This year, I’m trying out something different – less simple, more cozy.

New Year, New Adventure - How to Reach Goals This Year

Real Adulting is Happening This Year

You see, I’ve never owned a couch before. Since moving to our new place a few weeks ago, I decided that I would try out life with a couch. So far, it’s pretty great. We chose this huge sofa and loveseat duo, and it’s the most cozy thing I’ve sat on in years (aside from the monstrous cloud sofa we also fell in love with but cost $3,000). Now, even I know that’s too much for a first time couch that will house the rowdiness that are my children. We’ll save that for a forever home.

Opening Up Shop

Another thing I’m getting really cozy with is my creativity. I’ve pulled out my nifty craft-makers (hands) and started making things again. With a small investment in jewelry tools, wire, and time, I dove right in to jewelry making and graphics creation. My Etsy shop is open for my graphics, and my jewelry shop will open soon. I think I may even go into some bath and body products too. Experimentation will be the theme of this year.

Blogging in a New Light

Blogging has always been my escape from reality. As I’ve grown, it’s turned into more of an extension of myself – more real, honest and raw. Today, there are so many issues to be spoken about, and our opinions matter more than ever. Silence is power, but silence also keeps change from happening. How will we know what to change if no one says anything?

My opinions aren’t always popular, but I draw from a ton of experience, common sense and mistake-making. I’m a huge mistake-maker, but I learn from them. It’s the only way to grow. I’ve always been afraid of living, and I still am. However, I am also more of a risk-taker now (bought a couch for the first time ever, booyah), and I really couldn’t care less about what other people think. My real strength lies in how much I believe in my own beliefs and realizing that others are entitled to the same.

Reaching Goals This Year

I know there is so much hype around goal-setting, planning and organization right now, and I want to say to you: DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT.

Hype doesn’t have high success rates. Yes, it’ll be “the thing to do” for a little while, but what really helps you conquer your goals is to sit down with yourself and hash it out – when you’re ready. I know what it feels like to be rushed into things, and it sucks. That is why when I do my planning and resolutions, I make sure that I’m not doing it just because everybody else is. I do it, because that is what I want for myself. I want success this year.

You want it too, so I’m going to share something with you. This week’s freebie!

This New Year, New Adventure

In this new year, new adventure, I’ll be coming up with loads of interesting content. Don’t expect me to niche down, because I won’t (not here, anyway). Also, expect a lot of random weirdness, albeit useful and helpful random weirdness.

I live life as it comes. Sometimes it’s predictable, but most of the time, I’m swimming against the current. Swim with me?

You don’t get what you don’t ask for, so I ask you to please Pin This Post. It would mean the world to me. Thank you for sharing!

Good luck with everything you have planned this year. I’m sure it will all turn out to be incredible. I really enjoyed reading this, I’m not the new year, new me type and I’m not that big on resolutions either. This year is the first year I’ve been public with my goals so I’m determined to make them happen this year.
