Oooh makeup! I told ya I’d get around to this sooner or later, and as a self-professed lipstick and mascara addict, I had to grab this gorgeous pink tube that’s been floating around the web.

The L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara, $8.99 at Target, comes in a gorgeous pink and gold tube. The formula and color options are standard, so I chose my favorite – Blackest Black, Waterproof.

L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise

If there’s something I can’t resist, it’s a claim to lush, voluminous lashes that don’t flake. Now, if you’ve seen me before, you’ll know that I have very thin, straight hair on my head as well as on my lashes. It can’t be helped, so I must use an eyelash curler and waterproof mascara to hold any kind of curl.

Since I use waterproof versions, I don’t like formulas that end up all over my bottom lid or are too difficult to remove. I don’t want to cement my lashes. I just want them to look pretty and fluffy.

L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise has a fluffy bristle wand, which is nice, because I prefer this type over plastic wands. I feel like they grab the thin hairs more easily and separate them really well. Plastic bristles tend to clump my lashes together and make them look spidery.

Enhanced

Whenever I open a new tube of mascara, I like to add two drops of lavender essential oil into the tube and then insert the wand, twisting counterclockwise to mix the oil into the mascara. I find that this helps maximize the shelf life of my mascara as well as thin out any formulas that I find are too thick. It doesn’t affect the waterproofness at all. However, for the sake of these photos, I refrained from adding the lavender oil until after I tried it first. I just added the oil before I reinserted the wand into the tube.

My Results

These are unedited photos of me with no makeup on besides a quick brushing on of a NYX Automatic Eyebrow Pencil in Charcoal, since mine are practically invisible in photos. I curled and applied one coat of mascara to my right eyelashes, leaving my left eyelashes plain and uncurled. Oh, and I’m using my new LED Light Panel Softbox to light all of my photos now!

Defined, Lengthened, and Separated

As you can see, the L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise leaves my lashes looking more defined, lengthened, and separated. Because it’s the waterproof version, the curl will last all day for me. If you have naturally or easily-curled lashes, I believe the regular version should be fine. However, if you have stubborn lashes like mine, I recommend going Waterproof with your mascara.

For $8.99, I really like this mascara. My lashes feel fluffy, long, and not clumpy at all. My all-time favorite mascara was the Maybelline One by One, which I raved about years ago. Since it’s been discontinued, I’ve been searching for a new favorite (for years). This might be it, but we shall see.
