How I Made $1000 Working from Home in April

Working from home used to be a dream that I thought I could never reach, but now, I’m happy to say that I have broken through and made $1000 working from home.

My very first $1000! And yes, I work in my pjs and never have to put makeup on. It’s pretty awesome.

If you keep up with me on social media, you’ll know that I recently moved apartments. This is the main reason I didn’t earn more than I did in April. However, I have big plans for May, and I’ve already had a great start. I have a new office space, a large monitor, and extra storage that allows me to focus on my work and really get stuff done.

How I Made $1000 Working From Home with a Side Hustle

Is Working From Home For You

Just as certain careers require a specific personality type, working from home is no different. If you’re extroverted and thrive on interaction with other people, working from home will probably drive you crazy. However, if you’re an Introvert like me and prefer a sort of solitude while you work, it could be for you.

Working from home doesn’t have to be sitting at a computer all day, staring at a screen. I used to have bake sales that allowed me to do what I enjoy (baking for people) and get paid to do it. If you’re into consulting people, you would be meeting and speaking with clients on your own time. Still, you’d be your own boss and house your business mainly at home, if you so choose.

Do I Miss the Social Aspect

I do. I miss my coworkers who became my friends. If you’re working in a good environment, coworkers turning into amazing friends is inevitable. I miss those goofballs, but since I’m states away from them, I decided that I’d rather work from home so that I could spend my days with my kids. When I was working nights, that was something I had to sacrifice, and I think it’s time to get our time back.

Now, with every social environment comes drama. I do not miss the work drama at all. The sneaky, vicious personalities – nope. I can do without that. By working from home, I can choose who to spend my time with. It’s more intentional that way, and I enjoy the control.

How Do You Find Work

What do you like to do? Do you have experience in health care, data entry, accounting, transcription, customer service, etc.? There are opportunities everywhere, especially now that organizations are realizing the importance of remote opportunities. Companies like Apple, UnitedHealth, Dell, you name it, they probably have remote work from home jobs that you qualify for. For professional listings, you’ll want to search FlexJobs

I’m currently doing transcription and captioning for 3Play Media. There are good companies and bad companies to work for. Depending on your preferences, you’re going to figure out really quick if something isn’t going to be that great. I was lucky that I have friends who led me in the right direction. Thanks, Rikki! Now, I’m making enough to pay my bills, and if I crank out enough hours, I can have some for extra savings too.

How I Made $1000 From Home

I’m currently an independent contractor transcriptionist at 3Play. While some organizations don’t have much of an application process, 3Play’s is quite extensive. It’s their way of weeding out people who aren’t really going to put in good quality work. They can tell if you’re serious by how you treat the application process. So, I don’t recommend it if you aren’t going to do good work.

All you have to do is complete the application, typing test, and internet test. After they pre-accept you, you then go through a series of modules to test your skills and dedication. You have a certain number of days to complete all the modules. If you don’t complete it in that time frame, they will drop your application. After you are accepted, you sign a contract and can get to work as soon as they say go. It took me about a week to get in, and I spend one day working before the pay period ended. In one day, I made $100.

So there you have my April Report. It’s not a detailed income report, because I personally think those are unnecessary in this sense. I made money, and I’m sharing with you how I did it. I hope you’ve found this useful, and if you’re looking for a side hustle, this might encourage you. It really is possible, as long as you put the work in.

Previously, I published a list of 30+ Side Hustles you can work from home. If you haven’t grabbed it yet, you can do so here. Enjoy!

Another great read! I really learn a lot from your posts and I really enjoy reading them. I also enjoy working from home. It allows for a more flexible schedule, which is really what I need because of my classes. I like that it gives me more freedom in terms of my schedule and my pace.

    • Thank you so much, Aria! I’m glad you’re finding my posts helpful. Isn’t working from home so awesome! I do enjoy the freedom so much. 🙂

  • Wow so cool Ash! I wish I had more free time so that I could work from home again. But right now I am swamped at my job. Vacation rentals in Florida are booming right now and it’s not even summer yet!

    • I totally get that. I have been so focused on building up my income that my blog has fallen to the side a bit. Priorities though – I gotta eat, haha! It’s super flexible, plus you decide when you want to work and how much. If you ever needed just $100 for something that month, it’s definitely worth looking into. 🙂

  • It’s great! Finding that balance can be hard for some, but once you get the hang of it, it’s the best thing ever!
