Recently, I’ve gotten back into a very quick and easy makeup routine; it’s simple, and I only need 10 minutes to put my game face on.
Being a busy little human, I don’t have a whole lot of energy to be investing into my makeup. Right now, I am focusing on the launch of my new blog (this one), but I do like to have a routine and look nice during the day. Call it getting into work mode, if you will. Considering my needs, I gathered up my trusted favorites and developed a quick and easy makeup routine for every day.
Prep your skin.
After cleansing, I apply a calming moisturizer and a bit of face oil, because my skin is very dry these days. As I let my skin absorb the moisture, I get dressed before I tackle the makeup. The hair goes up – if you still look cute with your hair up in a bun or ponytail, then you’ve done well. Already set aside, I have two makeup bags – one holds my favorite makeup items, and the other holds my favorite brushes. On quick and easy makeup days, I only use half of the items, if that.
Before and after…10 minutes later.
Products I used:
- Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Concealer and Corrector in Shade 02
- L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte 16HR Powder in Shade 100 Porcelain
- Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette
- Urban Decay Naked Basics
- NYX Cosmetics Micro Brow Pencil in Espresso
- NYX Cosmetics Tinted Brow Mascara in Black
- L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Waterproof Mascara in Blackest Black
- Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Sheer Shame
In 9 minutes and 44 seconds, I appear much more awake and put together, ready to tackle all of the tasks outlined in my bullet journal – and more!
The key to finding a quick and easy makeup routine that works for you is knowing yourself and what makes you feel good.
If you know your skin and your best features, you’ll know what to accentuate and focus on. For instance if you like your eyes, bring them into focus with eyeshadows and mascara. Curling your eyelashes will automatically open up your eyes, so even if you don’t use eyeshadow, learn to curl your lashes and apply mascara – bam!
Let’s say you’re blessed with luscious lips, choose a favorite lipstick or lipgloss that brightens up your teeth as well as the rest of your face; I like a nice vampy berry shade or classic red. Customize your routine to what works best for you and your features. Don’t try to hide yourself – let it all shine through. If you don’t like makeup, just wear a big smile, and you’re set!
